sweet day

Ventured to Logan Square today for a pastry event at the Logan Square Kitchen.  I cannot believe how many people were there - very hard to actually get to see what each of the vendors had to offer.  There was actually a line down the block when we left!!  There were fifteen vendors with all sorts of specialty foods - gluten free, organic and vegan.  I don't typically like vegan or gluten free - but everything I had was amazing!!!

Above top left to right:

Pecan amaretto caramel by Katherine-Anne Confections - rich and nutty
sea salt caramel also b Katherine-Anne - quality chocolate and what tasted like a honey based caramel

Gluten free shortbread cookies by Pastry Freak - surprisingly good!  You'd never know they are gluten free!!

Dark chocolate pecan sea salt honey caramel turtle by Rich Chocolates - a heavenly combination of flavors

Other highlights:

Lavender vanilla bean ice cream by NiceCream - refreshing and light, just a hit of lavender (the kids liked this one too!)

Dark chocolate oatmeal cookies (vegan!) by Tinycakes - sweet and savory and good for you!

Apricot ginger oatmeal and peanut butter buckwheat cookies from BTrue Bakery - all-natural, whole grain baked and SO good!

My only disappointment was that Macaron Chicago ran out of macaron's  ... They had some great flavors that I was really curious to try, but oh well.  I'm sure mine are just as good anyway.  : )
